One Laravel app, many branded sites, a multi-tenant publishing platform built to scale.
Overview
Instead of maintaining a separate codebase per site, Sole IT built a single multi-tenant publishing platform that serves many branded properties, each resolved by its domain. Editors get a polished admin, readers get fast full-text search, and the whole thing scales from one maintainable codebase.
The challenge
Running multiple content sites meant duplicated code, inconsistent features and painful maintenance. The organisation needed one platform that could host many tenants, each with its own branding, content and media, without the overhead of many separate apps.
What I built
- Architected host-based multi-tenancy in Laravel 11, the incoming domain resolves the tenant, its content and its theme.
- Built the editorial experience on Filament 3 and Livewire 3 for a fast, modern admin.
- Added Laravel Scout + Meilisearch for instant full-text search and AWS S3 for scalable media, with FFmpeg video processing.
- Ran background work through Supervisor queues and cron, and layered in OpenAI-powered content features.
